MATTIFYING BASE

If you live in a humid climate, suffer from excess oil on your T-zone, or just prefer a matte look to your foundation, after moisturising your skin apply the Mattifying Base to your T-zone prior to applying your foundation.  Apply with the kabuki brush in a downward brushing motion avoiding the eye area.

MINERAL FOUNDATION

We recommend you use the correct brushes to apply mineral powder, in particular the kakubi brush for your foundation. Optimum results may not be achieved using other applicators as the minerals do not sit well on the skin unless applied correctly.  We also recommend to leave the clear sifter seal on the jar, and to make some perforations into the seal (approx 8 or 9) to eliminate too much product sitting above the sifter when travelling.
Make sure your moisturiser has been absorbed before you begin, and spread a tissue out to collect any spills, from which you may collect back up again with the kabuki brush.
1. With the lid on, turn the jar over, tap the bottom of the container to allow a small amount of foundation to fall into the lid, turn right side up, open the lid
2. Swirling the Kabuki brush in the powder sitting in the lid allows the pigments to be well blended before applying to the skin. Ensure that the Kabuki is well covered with a fine layer of minerals, and tap off any excess foundation back into the jar
3. Start on the jaw line and apply to the cheek until all of the foundation on the brush has been used, returning to the lid for a refill when the brush is clean.  For oily skin, apply in downward strokes, for normal to dry skin apply in a circular motion buffing the minerals into the skin (this stimulates the oil production which will give your face a glow)
4. Repeat application on remaining areas of the face until the whole face has been covered.  For a fuller coverage, apply over entire face twice.  Stop after the second application and allow the minerals to mix with the oils in your skin whilst you apply the rest of your makeup, as the coverage continues to get heavier and a little darker as the minerals mix with the skin's oils
5. Re-assess your coverage after finishing your eyes, and apply more only where necessary
6. To conceal dark circles under your eyes or lighten the dark areas appearing on either side of the bridge of your nose apply a little foundation with the Shadow/Liner and Brow Definer brush. To conceal any remaining blemishes, use the Mineral Precision Shadow Brush and dab a small amount on the area

BLUSH

Smile in the mirror so that you can see the apples of your cheeks.  Pick up a small amount of blush and dab quickly onto the back of your hand to remove excess.  Apply the most concentrated application of blush to the apples of your cheeks in a circular motion and tail off any remaining products towards the ear.  Keep blush at least 2cm from the nose and 2 cm from the eye.  Can layer complimentary shades  for a rosy glow, starting with the darkest colour first to give shape and definition, and finishing off with the lightest shade concentrated on the apple only.

ILLUMIN-IT

Apply as a highlighter to areas of the face to which you wish to draw attention.  Apply with the fluffy end of the Mineral Shadow/Liner & Brow Brush on cheekbones or on the arch of the brow to open up the eye area;  and for small lips, wet the angled end of the brush prior to using along the bow of the top lip or under the centre of the bottom lip to make lips look fuller.  Can also be used as an eyeshadow.

MINERAL SHIMMER

For a dramatic look,  apply in a "V" shape from the top of the cheek  towards the ear and up along the brow bone.  Reapply.  Can be pressed into lipgloss to give a shimmering lift, or used on the body to give the skin a glow.  Mix in with your moisturiser to adhere all day.  Can be used as a sheer eyeshadow, or pressed on top of other shades to give them a different look.

BRONZING POWDER

For a sun-kissed look on your shoulders and chest and used for contouring the face
Use as a blush for a 'natural' look. Tip a small amount into the lid and swirl brush in powder. You can also mix the bronzing powder in with your usual body lotion or moisturiser for a  carefree and natural look

EYE SHADOW

Use the Mineral Shadow Precision Brush as this has been manufactured specifically for loose pigments and will help with building colour quickly giving greater control.
Tap some color into the lid, press one side of the brush into the powder, and then wipe the free edge on the back of the hand before applying (especially if using a dark shade).  The shadow is best applied using a 'pat-pat-pat' motion which will quickly build intensity of colour, and stop powder falling onto the cheek area.  Do not use a painting motion as this will blend the pigments and not keep their true colour.  Apply three colors to get a professional touch, a lighter shade to highlight the brow bone, and deeper shade on the lid and the deepest shade along the eye socket and to line the lash line.

BROW DEFINER/EYELINER

Define your eyebrows  with the Shadow/Liner and Brow Brush

CARE OF KABUKI BRUSH

Gently wash regularly with shampoo, stand upright and allow to dry

APPLICATION TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS

Too much shine?

Layering too thickly or pressing into the skin with the brush tends to separate the crystals. Apply the minerals in thin layers in downward strokes with an appropriate brush (we recommend our kabuki brush). Add layers until you are happy with your coverage. It can also help to spritz with a freshener and then blot.

Uneven and blotchy?
This is usually because the minerals have been applied before the moisturizer has been absorbed.

Skin tickle?   If you get a feeling of ‘tickling’ on the skin or a slight ‘tightness’ around the nose after you first application, this could just be pressing too hard with the brush. Using soft, light strokes with your Kabuki brush; build layers gently to get your desired coverage. Facial skin is very delicate and you may find the use of a dry brush for applying make-up a little strange at first but go softly and your skin will love you for changing over.

Laser surgery, microdermabrasion, light peel or IPL?   Zink Mineral Cosmetic powders can be applied immediately after these procedures and will not only cover the redness, but the titanium dioxide and zinc oxides are anti-inflammatory and will help calm the irritation.

Water on the face? If you have been perspiring after exercising, or swimming (or shedding a tear) don’t wipe your face with a towel or with your hand - just pat your face dry and your makeup will stay intact.
